Hesegem, hopes that the MRP can become a bridge to bring these aspirations to Jakarta, and to resolve all cases of alleged human rights violations in Papua, including the Nduga case.

“We hope that the final cases of the murder of the two victims are Selu Karunggu, 20 years old and Elias Karunggu, 34 years old. They are civilians with refugee status after the December 2 2018 incident in Yigi, Nduga District. Until now, there is no investigation has yet participated in the crime scene,” said Hesegem.

Hesegem emphasized, the Nduga community up to now need a law enforcement process, that the location needs to be identified by investigators, because the community needs an explanation of what happened there, whether it was true or not.

“The community needs law enforcement, if the people who were killed and the law enforcement (Military/Police) claim that those who were killed were criminal groups (an independent Papua operation such as OPM, KKB, KKS) without clear evidence and investigation we rejected this claim, it must be proven in a clear legal process,” he said.

“The MRP accepts and will follow up on the report according to institutional mechanisms because the report submitted by the DPRD, Regent and Human Rights Defenders is a form of concern for the safety of indigenous Papuans in Papua,” he said.
