Yerterday 26 June 2021, Mr Amatus Douw, Chairman of the Diplomatic Council with TPNPB-OPM launched the inaugural campaign for United Nations Security Council Intervention in West Papua at the Queesland Council of Unions buildingin Brisbane Australia.
Speakers included representatives from: Peace and Justice Commission (Catholic Diocese, Brisbane); academics; human rights groups; mediation experts from the Peace and Conflict Studies Institute (Australia); a representative from the United Nations Association of Australia; Australian politicians; political asylum refugees from West Papua; TPNPB-OPM’s media spokesperson; and, Papua New Guinea supporters.
Issues highlighted include: the illegal transfer of West Papua to Indonesia, the multiple violations of the UN Charter and international law, the ongoing oppression, the current military conflict in the highlands regions including Ndugama, Intan Jaya, Timika, Puncak, Paniai, Deiyai, and Dogiyai.
The Diplomatic Council of TPNPB-OPM calls for immediate humanitarian intervention by the United Nations Security Council and all UN Member States as advocated under UN resolution 2621 to provide moral and material support to the West Papuan people in order to bring an end to the ongoing slaughter of West Papuan people and end this international conflict.
