JAYAPURA, SUARAPAPUA.com — Student’s from the Musaik, Suru-Suru, and Obio districts of Yahukimo Regency, questioned the presence of dozens of members from the Indonesian National Army (TNI) in the Suru-Suru district, the border between Asmat, Nduga, and Yahukimo Regency.
Students even stated that they are refused the presence of the TNI in the Suru-Suru district which is unknown to the local government.
Linus Bayage, head of the Student Association from Musaik, Suru-Suru, Obio District (IPMD-MSO) in Jayapura said, the presence of an army without permission from the district’s head has violated the rules. And it is not urgent because during this time it is safe without a problem that affects the security and order of the society.
“There is 66 TNI personnel in Suru-Suru from last month until now. We asked whose permission it was, but there has been no evidence the letter of permission, they want to build a Military command (Koramil)” said Linus in Abepura, City of Jayapura, Friday, (3/13/2020).
From the experience, he added. The people in the Suru-Suru only hear the events that happen in Nduga, Lanny Jaya and other areas.
“The presence of the soldiers with complete equipment will make our community traumatized. So, we the students of the three districts is firmly refused. We have check directly to the head of the district, but the district itself does not know about the presence of the Military (TNI). This is already clear, our request to the superiors to immediately pull back,” he said.
If there is a strong legal basis, they should submit a letter of permission to the government to build Koramil at District Suru-Suru.
Linus not yet sure the origin of the Military (TNI). Dozens of soldiers after arriving in Suru-Suru, he said base temporally in the district office, while looking for a location that will be used to establish the office of the Military Command (Koramil).
“According to information we received, members of the TNI went to Suru-Suru by river transportation, not an airplane. Until now they still occupy the district office. We’ve asked some of the public figures, but all claimed they don’t know about the presence of the soldiers,” said Linus.
Yunius Bayage, as members of the IPMD-MSO in Jayapura, expressed that students as the future successor from the Suru-Suru, Obio and Musaik District will be voiced up, to asked the 66 members of the army must be pulled back. So, our people didn’t panic like what they have been experienced in the last month.
“We insist that the military must be pulled back from Suru-Suru. Since the presence of the district until now, there’s have been no major conflicts, not even a small one. The TNI present makes our parents traumatized and displaced” he said.
He claimed that he already have communicated with the family in Yahukimo, and it turns out that since the presence of these soldiers, most of the people of the Suru-Suru are already displaced to the Musaik and Obio.
“Some have evaded, they have fled their homes, gardens, and farms. We are very sad to hear this news. Once again we insist that the army must be returned. Why did they come without permission? There were already has police members in Jayawijaya Regional Police Station “said Yunias.
