Papuan People’s Assembly Members Blame Shooting Perpetrators in Intan Jaya

JAYAPURA, SUARAPAPUA.com —- Sisca Abugau, member of the Papuan People’s Assembly (MRP) who is also Vice Chairman of the Women’s Working Group (POKJA) for women, said that the recent shooting incidents that took casualties in Intan Jaya district could not be tolerated anymore they had been tolerated because they had claimed the lives of humans created by God.

Sisca said that the case of the loss of innocent human lives was condemned because it had been categorized as a violation of human rights (HAM).

“We did not accept the shooting that claimed the lives of people in Intan Jaya that happened recently. A person’s life and death are in God’s hands, no one has the right to take a human life. We are from the bottom of our hearts in strongly condemning the perpetrators of human rights violations, both TNI and Polri and TPNPB,” he told suarapapua.com, Saturday (3/14/2020) in Jayapura City.

He said that after the team Pokja women MRP visited Sugapa, the capital of Intan Jaya Regency, recently.

“Indonesia, if Intan Jaya people were considered also a part of this nation, it means that it is worth giving a punishment which is equal with the actions from military members who shoot to dead the school children and civilians,” she hoped.

On a working visit to Intan Jaya, Sisca said that the MRP members had the opportunity to visit YPPK Bilogai Elementary School, where some of the children were victims of the shooting went to school.

“We went to the school from Melki Tipagau who was shot to death, Martina Sani who was still on medical treatment, and also Jackson Sondegau, an eight-year-old boy who shot by the soldiers. All of these victims are recorded as a pupil at YPPK Bilogai Elementary School. We’ve seen their data at the school,” said this former teacher in Jayapura.

Besides that, the MRP team also met Melki Tipagau’s younger brother who was also a student of Bilogai’s YPPK Elementary School.

We felt sad and very sadistic because the shooting happened not day or night, but five o’clock in the morning while they were still sleeping and they were shocked by sweeping and shooting that killed Mr. Kayus Sani, and Melki Tipagau in Galunggama witnessed by Melki’s younger brother, ” She said.

Sisca added, in Sugapa, the capital of the Intan Jaya district, the MRP team gathered and formed the Intan Jaya women’s organization.

“We went there to form an Intan Jaya women’s organization by following the work program of the Women’s Working Group (POKJA) so that Intan Jaya women are trained and fostered to become great women like in other regions,” Sisca explained.

Meanwhile, Priest Kleopas Sondegau, Pr, said that all the Police units in Intan Jaya district did not shoot local civilians.

“Military forces must be careful because the appearance of the people there, including physical characteristics are all the same. Soldiers and police must distinguish which ones are TPNPB members and who are civilians. Don’t shoot randomly,” he said when he was interviewed by suarapapua.com, Sunday (02/23/2020) in Waena.

Priest Sondegau, who is also a lecturer at the St. John Jayapura High School Catechetic Pastoral School (STPK), admitted he was upset over the shooting of civilians in Intan Jaya district.
