KOTA SORONG, SUARAPAPUA.com— A total of 23 political prisoners (Tapol) charged with treason on December 1, 2019, at the Fakfak District Court (PN) were sentenced to an average of one year in prison.
This was conveyed by Paul Sirwitubun, a member of the advocate team at Fakfak to suarapapua.com, Monday (26/10/2020).
Paul said, of the 23 political prisoners, 11 others had their verdicts read out on Thursday (22/10/2020) and on average were sentenced to 1 year in prison.
“The 23 accused of treason were divided into two groups, the first group consisting of 11 people and the second group consisting of 12 people. The first 11 defendants were convicted on Thursday, October 22, 2020, whose trial was chaired by the Head of the Fakfak District Court, Thobias Benggian. They are sentenced to an average of 1 year in prison.”
“They are Hermus M. Lumatalale, Efernandus Billy Wahab, Herman Bahba aka pon, Leornadus Titikweria known as Ronald Titikweria, Yesnel Bahba, Rizal Heremba known as Karel Heremba, Bernadus Herietrenggi, Alfons Hegemur and Etis Bahba sentenced to 1 year. Meanwhile, Nelson Hegemur was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison and Elias Herietrenggi to 2 years in prison, “Paul explained, Monday (26/10/2020).
In addition, Paul said, 12 other defendants received an average sentence of 1 year in prison which was decided by the head of the Fakfak District Court on Friday (23/10/2020).
They were the defendants Petrus Temongmere, Korneles Tiktikweria, Enggel Tiktikweria, Abdon Tiktikweria, Enggel Tiktikweria, Hendrik Herietrenggi and Yance Hegemur alias father Helda. Meanwhile, Soleman Herietrenggi was sentenced to 1 year and 3 months imprisonment and Herry Patiran, Set Alfian Patiran, Kaleb Hegemur was sentenced to 11 months in prison.
Yan Christian Warinusy, Executive Director of the Manokwari Institute for Research, Assessment and Development of Legal Aid (LP3BH) said 23 of his clients were charged with multiple charges, namely treason charges based on Article 106 Article 110 of the Criminal Code and Emergency Law No. 12 of 1951 and article 351 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
“We are still given the opportunity by the judge’s advisor for 7 days to think and will state our attitude whether to accept the judge’s decision or to take legal action. All of this will be consulted again with our clients at the Fakfak Penitentiary (Lapas), “he said.
