JAYAPURA, SUARAPAPUA.com —It is suspected that the Indonesian National Army (TNI) shot dead Rev. Yeremia Zanambani, S.Th. From the information gathered by the media, the shooting took place on Saturday, 19 September 2020.
Rev. Yeremia is the former Chairperson of the GKII Hitadipa district churches, the vice-chairman of the Moni Bible translator, and also the Head of the STA Hitadipa school.
The surrounding community neighbor who was in Hitadipa, who did not his name to be exposed to media, confirmed that there had been shootings that killed civilians.
“This father (late Yeremia Zanambani) went to Bomba. The village not far from Hitadipa was the destination of the late father to feed pigs. His body was just found this morning with his hand cut and shot,” he said on Sunday (9/20/2020)

Yesterday on Saturday 19 September, Pdt. Jeremiah and his wife went to Bomba [the pig pen] to feed the cattle.
After feeding the cattle, the wife asked late Pt. Jeremiah to go home. However, Pt. said he was still waiting for his cattle to eat first. Therefore his wife left for home first.
Previously, TNI members gave a stern warning to Hitadipa Communities to immediately return two weapons that were allegedly taken by the TPNPB after shooting dead TNI members who served at the Hitadipa Koramil post.
The information source suarapapua.com said that with the excuse of finding and pursuing the perpetrator who shot dead a TNI member and looking for the two taken weapons, the TNI members followed Pt. Jeremiah to his pigpen.
In the Pigpen, Pdt. Jeremiah was struck with a sharp weapon. After that, he was shot to death in his pigpen located in Bomba.
Because until morning Pt. Jeremiah had not returned home yet, so the family just left for Bomba, to the pigpen to check on him. However, on their arrival, they found him in a lifeless condition.
“After that, the family took his body back to Hitadipa and the family was on the process of burying his body,” he said.
Funeral service of Pt. Jeremiah was lead by the Chairperson of the Hitadipa district GKII churches, for Hitadipa Village, a Pt. who also studied at STT Hitadipa with two other young men and a number of women.
The informant’s source said that until now, security conditions in Hitadipa district are not safe. So, after the funeral of Pt. Jeremiah, the mothers will see refuge in Sugapa.
Until this news was broadcasted, it had not yet been confirmed by the security forces, either the Police or the TNI.
